Crime Stoppers Public Transport

Crime Stoppers is committed to minimizing crime on trains, trams and buses. We work closely with Victoria Police's Transit Safety Division to apprehend those responsible for committing offences and to deter those thinking about it.

This website features a number of crimes from time to time that have occurred on the public transport system.  Technolological improvements mean the quality of images is constantly improving and those caught committing offences on safety cameras will be identified and prosecuted.

If a crime is being witnessed on public transport and a mobile phone is available, a call to 000 is encouraged.

If the opportunity to report a crime only arises after completion of the journey, commuters are requested to inform Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via this website, giving as much detail as possible.

On some rail lines, crimes which have happened on that line or the general vicinity are the subject of special promotion, appealing for help from the traveling public to help identify the persons responsible.

A team effort is needed to improve all aspects of safety on public transport.  Crime Stoppers can be used by the public to keep the transit system safe and stamp out inappropriate behaviour.

Tip of the week!

On your answering machine say "we can't come to the phone right now" rather than "I'm on holidays and will be back on a certain date".
