Armed Robbery x 2 - IGA St Kilda Road and IGA Park Street - Southbank and South Melbourne

Crime Stoppers is seeking public assistance to identify a man allegedly involved in two armed robberies in the South Melbourne and Southbank areas.

On Monday 11 June 2007, at about 9.00 p.m., an unknown man entered the IGA Supermarket at 320 St Kilda Road, Southbank.

The man produced a knife and demanded the attendant open the cash register. The second armed robbery occurred on Friday 26 October 2007. At about 2.55 p.m. a man entered the IGA Supermarket at 38 Park Street, South Melbourne.

After walking to the rear of the supermarket the man returned to the cash registers at the front of the store. He then threatened two staff members with a knife and demanded cash.

The man stole an amount of cash and was last seen running south along Kings Way.

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, aged in his early 20's, about 175 cm tall with long black straight hair tied back in a pony tail.

On both occasions he wore a green puffy jacket with a fluff lined hood and blue jeans.

Police have released security images of a man whom they believe may be able to assist them in their enquiries.
